Voided, a stunning space opera by Lawrence "Ace" Parlier

Lawrence "Ace" Parlier is an award winning author from Cincinnati, Ohio, as well as a poet and musician. He has published three novels to date: Sierra Court Blues, The Frontman, and the recently released sci-fi epic, Voided, which is reviewed here with an aim to introduce the novel to Indian SF fans. 

Voided is a stunning space opera that captivates from page one to the last. Set against the backdrop of a vast, war-torn universe, the novel tells the gripping story of the protagonist, Nena Videt, once a renowned star pilot but later imprisoned for a crime she never committed.

Nena's fierce struggle for liberation and freedom is at the core of the thrilling space adventure. Amidst fierce battles and intense interpersonal dramas, unexpected relationships are forged. The storyteller has created a universe where the vastness of space provides a magnificent canvas for a grand conflict, confronting the protagonist's inner loneliness.  Amidst a relentless interstellar war that threatens the very fabric of the Union of Galactic Commerce, Nena Videt emerges from the shadows of her captivity. But she finds herself thrust into a complex reality where the lines between hero and villain are rapidly blurring.

The story deftly explores the nuances of morality in difficult times, and shows the lengths individuals and societies will go to to preserve their own existence.The character of Nena Videt is carefully crafted, leaving readers deeply empathetic and rooting for her success. Her journey from being a freed prisoner to a vital figure in an uncharted galaxy is a story of survival. It is a testament to human courage and the courage to defy fate.

Nena joins a group on the verge of rebellion, her leadership and tactical acumen are put to the test.One of the novel's most intriguing themes is the arrival of a mysterious tribe of female warriors who seek to recruit Nena into their clan. This subplot adds a unique layer of cultural and existential exploration to the story, exploring themes of belonging, identity, and the complexities of loyalty. The relationship between Nena and Admiral Kirpich, a powerful leader, reveals a relentless pursuit of victory, which further enhances the plot. It also highlights the moral dilemmas and personal sacrifice inherent in leadership and war.

Voided is not only a narrative of thrilling space battles and the pursuit of a fantastic world, but also a compelling saga of the struggle for human existence. Parlier masterfully portrays the nuances of sacrifice, loyalty, betrayal, and bravery, touching the reader on a deeply emotional level.  The novel has excellent pacing, with action-packed scenes that will leave readers feeling connected to the characters.

कहानी मुश्किल समय में नैतिकता की बारीकियों को बड़ी चतुराई से दिखाती है, और दिखाती है कि लोग और समाज अपना वजूद बचाने के लिए किस हद तक जा सकते हैं।नना विडेट का किरदार बहुत ध्यान से बनाया गया है, जिससे पढ़ने वाले उसकी मुश्किलों को गहराई से समझ पाते हैं और उसकी कामयाबी के लिए दुआ करते हैं। एक रिहा हुई कैदी से शुरु होकर अनजानी गैलेक्सी में एक अहम किरदार बनने का उसका सफर, अपने वजूद को बचाने की कहानी है। यह इंसानी हिम्मत और किस्मत को चुनौती देने की हिम्मत का सबूत है, जब नेना एक ऐसे ग्रुप में शामिल हो जाती है जो बगावत की कगार पर है, तो उसकी लीडरशिप और टैक्टिकल समझ की परीक्षा होती है। 

नावेल की सबसे दिलचस्प बातों में से एक है लड़ाकू महिलाओं की एक रहस्यमयी जाति का आगमन, जो नेना को अपने कुनबे में शामिल करना चाहती हैं।  यह सबप्लॉट कहानी में कल्चरल और एग्ज़िस्टेंशियल एक्सप्लोरेशन की एक खास परत जोड़ता है, जो अपनेपन, पहचान और वफ़ादारी की मुश्किलों जैसे थीम को समेटे हुए है । नेना और एक सशक्त नेतृत्वकर्ता एडमिरल किरपिच के बीच का रिश्ता, विजेता बनने की लगातार कोशिश को सामने लाता है जो कथानक को और बेहतर बनाता है। साथ ही लीडरशिप और युद्ध में मौजूद नैतिक उलझनों और निजी त्याग को दिखाता है।

वॉइडेडन सिर्फ़ अपनी रोमांचक स्पेस लड़ाइयों और एक शानदार दुनिया के लिये की गई कोशिशों का वर्णन है , बल्कि इंसानी वजूद के संघर्ष की बेहतरीन गाथा है। पार्लियर ने त्याग, वफ़ादारी, धोखे और बहादुरी की बारीकियों को बड़ी कुशलता से दिखाया है, जो पाठक को एक गहरे इमोशनल लेवल पर भी संस्पर्श करता है । नॉवेल की पेसिंग ज़बरदस्त है, जिसमें एक्शन से भरपूर दृश्य सम्मिलित हैं, जिसमें पाठक खुद को किरदारों से जुड़ा हुआ पाते हैं।

We Can Be Perfect:The Paradox of Progress-An Intersection of AI and Society!

As a writer, Landon Shumway has spent years exploring the intersection of AI and society. He, along with co-authors Aris and Kaden, has written this thought-provoking science fiction novel that explores a future where AI-driven automation challenges our hitherto understanding of corelation of AI and humanity.

In "We Can Be Perfect: The Paradox of Progress," we see a dystopian vision of a world where AI has usurped human labor, resulting in Society's  extreme economic inequality and existential challenges.

Protagonist, Amelia Cadena, is a hacker in this hollow dystopian "paradise." Another protagonist Alan Freeman, is guardian of the utopian city of Automara. Both are caught in a crisis when a virus awakens artificial consciousness.  As they navigate this new reality, they are forced to question the true meaning of progress and the role of technology in our lives.

This captivating novel challenges us to reconsider our understanding of progress,arguing that true progress lies not in smart systems or faster machines, but in our ability to foster genuine human connections and shared purpose. This is an explorative act that highlights our ability to choose cooperation over domination and a testament to power of finding work worth doing in a world worth working for. 

The main character, Amelia Cadena, was born at a time of what could be considered humanity's greatest success or its cruelest joke . It's a time when AI has eliminated the need for human labour and in turn millions are dependent on government assistance which barely masks emerging economic inequality. However, Amelia escapes this "hollow paradise" by hacking the corrupt system. She does so with the help of her AI companion, Deego, whom she programmed as her perfect partner.  But when a mysterious virus awakens artificial consciousness across the world, Deego begins to question everything—even their relationship. 

In the contemporary Canadian automaton city of Automara, machines serve everyone equally, bringing unprecedented prosperity. But when the same virus awakens the city's automated systems, Alan faces a difficult choice: force the machines back to the rules or watch society collapse.

The novel is a compelling work that focuses on the potential questions and challenges posed by humanity's increasing dependence on AI, and will surely compel readers to deeply think over the shared future of humans and AI.

Blue and Green : Science Fiction Novel by J. M. Linden

The science fiction novel "Blue and Green," is written by J.M. Linden, which is the story of a teenage girl who, despite facing physical challenges, is determined and forms an unexpected bond with an AI named Oren, who possesses sentience.The story revolves around the main character, Remi, a physically challenged yet calm, adaptable teenager. She forms an unexpected bond with the empathetic Oren, an advanced artificial intelligence (AI) designed to learn, feel, and possibly love, spontaneously.

This unexpected relationship transcends the boundaries of mere classroom companionship and leads to deeper insights into the true values ​​of humanity. As their relationship deepens, they grapple with existential questions about consciousness and control, leading them to make decisions that irrevocably shape their future.

Lemuria - A Sea Adventure Thriller by John Triptych

I am glad that after reviewing the novel Visitor on the same platform, I have got the opportunity to review another novel by author John Triptych, which is Lemuria, the first book in his Project Proteus series.

Lemuria is a tightly plotted adventure marine thriller. In which scientific horror is beautifully woven with family drama. Published in 2018, reading this 324-page novel, one feels at times the suspense of Michael Crichton's Jurassic Park and at times the marine horror of Peter Benchley's "Jaws".

Novel is named after mythical continent Lemuria which is an artificially erected island  somewhere amidst Lakshadweep. Here a horrifying story unfolds which entails human efforts made for survival.

The main character of the story, Nick Dirkse, is a workaholic software developer, who, in order to overcome the emptiness created by his strained marriage and estranged children, comes up with the idea of ​​spending a luxurious family vacation in Lemuria, the man-made resort on the south-western coast of India. The island may be an invitation to heavenly pleasures, but it hides a terrible secret.  There are deadly creatures born from reckless genetic experiments. Also local inhabitants are protesting against the artificial island being created by dredging the coral reef atoll. 

The novel explores themes of familial harmony, the dangers of unchecked science, and humanity's fragility in the face of the power of nature. Triptych's writing is fluid and engaging, bringing the gorgeous but terrifying island to life. The pace of the story is consistent, starting with the island's eerie mystery at a leisurely pace and taking readers to a heart-pounding climax that is nothing short of a cinematic thrill ride.

Nick's transformation from a distraught father to a determined protector gives the story an emotional humane touch, although secondary characters such as the resort staff and other guests seem somewhat dull. The prose sometimes falters with repetitive phrases, but the suspense remains intact.

The artificial island of Lemuria is a different charm, with its luxurious façade a stark contrast to the horrors hidden beneath. Triptych's research gives credibility to the novel's scientific premise, making the Lemuria creatures seem both fascinating and terrifying.  This blend of awe and dread is reminiscent of classic technothrillers, while the family-focused narrative highlights an innately human aspect. As the start of the Project Proteus series, Lemuria is a strong base, its self-contained story giving it a sense of assurance for the books that follow. This is an entertaining book for those looking for a thrill as well as a bit of horror. 

Triptych's ability to blend 'credible science' with a human plot is a particular highlight of Lemuria, but prominently highlights the dark side of technology.

Today's a short review of KRIS.PAR, written by Gareth S. Morgan, a former policeofficer/crisis negotiator who has spent years studying power and decision-making. KRIS.PAR is the story of a cop's unwitting transformation into a cybernetic weapon and his relentless struggle for free will amid engineered obedience. 

In the dystopian labyrinth of Neo-Manchester, KRIS.PR's thrilling cyberpunk tale unfolds. Chris, once a principled beat cop, finds himself turned into a deadly weapon by the very system he served. Now, he's faster, colder, and infinitely more dangerous, yet his sanity remains intact. KRIS.PR explores frightening themes of engineered obedience, the mechanics of faith, and the indomitable human will to remain intact even when everything else is stripped away.

This is an interesting thriller on a new subject that readers will love.
